The Enemy, The Anointing And The Overflow
Verse 5: Thou prepares a table before me in the presence of my enemies: thou anoints my head with oil; my cup runs over.
There is a reason for the table, the oil and the overflow. They follow that sequence and the Lord in His wisdom made it so. You may be tempted to despise the presence of the enemy as though the Lord should remove them. We most often asks questions like why me Lord. Why, didn’t you know? Didn’t you see? Not again Lord as if the Lord was taken aback or was given a surprise sneak in the dark. No my friend He actually knows the next move of the enemy before the devil took it and He had it all worked out. All things work together for the good of those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose. (Romans8:28)
There are periods on this journey the only cup you drink from is the cup of sufferings. (Psalms 80:5; 102:9; Matthew 20:22; 26:39 John 18:11)
The table He prepares is an invitation. Every good thing the lord does in your life attracts the attention of the enemy, but should that stop the Lord? No, because the next thing He will do is to anoint you. The presence of the enemy is the reason for the anointing of God on your life.
I have found David My servant; with My holy oil have I anointed him: with whom my hand shall be established: mine arm also shall strengthen him. The enemy shall not exact upon him; nor the son of wickedness afflict him. And I will beat down his foes before his face, and plague them that hate him. (Psalm 89:20-23)
The anointing of God’s Spirit comes upon you to empower you. How God anointed Jesus Christ of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power who went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil for God was with Him. (Acts 10-38) We see here the tremendous power the anointed wields over devils. The table attracts them to you and the oil which symbolizes the anointing humiliates them rendering them helpless.
For I give unto you power to trample upon serpents and scorpions and over every power of the enemy and nothing shall by any means hurt you. (Luke 10:19) At this stage on the roadmap, the puzzles begins to unfold, the people of God enjoys the overflow coming from their cups. The cup here symbolizes salvation. (Psalm116:13) The blessings begins to pour in, yet the wicked one has no power to stop it. This is why we must submit ourselves to follow the process. Anyone of Gods child who doesn’t follow the processes will end up defeated because they short circuit the process.
A lot of praise and adoration to God, testimonies and thanksgiving pours out of a heart of gratitude thanking Him for what He has done.
Prayer: Dear Lord, Please help me not to jump bail so that I can serve my full term in your school of process so that Lord I can compete my metamorphosis to become what you want me to be, Amen.
